Jobber AI: what's built in, and how to connect ChatGPT or Claude.
Jobber now has AI in three places: an assistant built into the app, an AI receptionist that answers calls and texts, and an official connector that lets ChatGPT or Claude work in your Jobber account. Here is what each one does, what it costs, and what it still can't do, checked against Jobber's own pricing page and help center in October 2026.
The short answer
Jobber AI, the assistant you chat with or talk to in the Jobber app, is on every Jobber plan. Jobber Receptionist, the AI that answers calls and texts, is included on the Plus plan and costs $29 a month as an add-on on the others, with 30 conversations included and $0.79 for each one after that. Separately, Jobber's official connector lets ChatGPT or Claude look up your clients, requests, quotes, jobs, and invoices and create requests, clients, and quotes, on any Jobber plan and even on the free ChatGPT and Claude plans. It can't create jobs or invoices, change your schedule, or delete anything.
What Jobber's built-in AI does
Jobber groups its AI features under the name Jobber AI. Jobber describes it as built for field service work, not a general-purpose chatbot. Here is what exists today, by Jobber's own description:
| Feature | What it does | Which plans |
|---|---|---|
| Jobber AI chat | Answers questions about your clients, quotes, jobs, invoices, and employees ("what's my quote conversion rate?"), gives business advice, and writes emails and marketing content. Opens from the sparkle icon on Jobber.com and in the app. | All plans, labeled beta. Non-admin users get product help only. |
| Jobber AI voice | In the mobile app, you say what you need: create a quote, check the schedule, send an invoice, capture notes. Creating new records only works in voice mode. | All plans for admins. On Plus, other team members can use it too. |
| Rewrite | Turns a rough client message into a clear, polished one in one click. | Plan not stated on Jobber's pricing page. |
| Automations | Jobber suggests automations and can send follow-ups, draft quotes, and flag high-value jobs. | Automated quote and invoice follow-ups start on Connect. Custom workflow automations start on Grow. |
| Custom report builder | Describe the report you want in plain words and it builds it from live Jobber data. | Plus. |
| Receptionist | Answers calls and texts, books work, takes requests. Details below. | Included on Plus. $29/month add-on on Core, Connect, and Grow. |
| Marketing Suite | A customized marketing plan built around your business, among other marketing tools. | $99/month add-on. Included on Plus. |
Jobber's help center notes that conversations with Jobber AI may be logged for analysis, improvement, and security. Keep card numbers and passwords out of it, as with any chat box.
Prices change. These are Jobber's published prices as of October 6, 2026. Plan prices depend on team size and billing, so check Jobber's pricing page before you decide.
Jobber's AI receptionist, and what it costs
Jobber Receptionist answers your business line by phone and text, around the clock. It answers common questions using your business profile and your Jobber website's FAQ section, takes work requests, and can book jobs into your calendar using your Online Booking settings. You pick which of those it does on its own (scheduling jobs and taking requests). For anything you turn off, it asks before acting. Keywords you choose, like "emergency" or "burst pipe," either transfer the call to a team member or text them a transcript and a link to call back. Every conversation is logged with a summary, transcript, and recording.
The cost, per Jobber's help center:
- Plus plan: included, unlimited usage.
- Other plans: $29 a month for 30 conversations, then $0.79 per extra conversation, billed on your next renewal. Calls flagged as spam or with no real conversation don't count. A text thread counts as one conversation for up to 24 hours.
- Phone number: it needs a Jobber dedicated phone number (available in the US, Canada, and UK). You can keep your existing number and forward calls to it.
For a sense of scale: if the receptionist handles 80 conversations in a month on the add-on, that's $29 plus 50 extra at $0.79, or $68.50. A busy spring for a landscaper or a cold snap for an HVAC shop can push that number up fast, so watch the usage counter on the Receptionist dashboard.
One thing we'd change on day one: edit the greeting so callers hear that they're talking to an automated assistant for your business. Jobber lets you edit the greeting. Our own rule is that an AI receptionist always says what it is. If you're weighing this against a person or a voicemail box, see AI receptionist vs answering service vs voicemail.
The official Jobber connector for ChatGPT and Claude
The connector is different from Jobber AI. It lets the ChatGPT or Claude app you already use reach into your Jobber account. Jobber's help article (updated October 1, 2026) says it works on all Core, Connect, Grow, and Plus plans, and that the free ChatGPT and Claude plans work with it.
| It can | Records |
|---|---|
| Look up and search | Clients, properties, requests, quotes, jobs, invoices |
| Create or edit | Requests, clients, properties |
| Create, but not edit afterward | Quotes, with a total, deposit, and discount (no unit costs or margins) |
| Not do | Create or edit jobs or invoices, add or change anything on your schedule, delete or archive any record |
Where it shines is the messy stuff Jobber's own forms can't take: a forwarded work-order email, a spreadsheet of old clients, a voice memo you typed up in the truck. ChatGPT or Claude reads it, then puts the clean version into Jobber.
Use the connector, not a browser agent. Jobber says it blocks automated browser agents, including the browser tools built into ChatGPT and Claude, from signing in to Jobber. The connector is the supported route.
How to connect Jobber to ChatGPT or Claude
Jobber's steps start inside Jobber. It takes a few minutes:
- Open the App Marketplace in Jobber. Find the Claude connector or the ChatGPT connector and open it.
- Select Learn More. That takes you to Claude's connector directory or ChatGPT's plugin directory.
- Select Connect on the Jobber connector.
- Sign in to Jobber if you aren't already.
- Allow access. This lets the connector into your Jobber account.
- Review the tools. After you approve, you land on a page that shows which Jobber tools ChatGPT or Claude can use. Turn off anything you don't want it doing yet. Creating quotes is a sensible one to leave off for the first week.
Not sure which assistant to pick? Both get the same Jobber connector. Our comparison of ChatGPT, Claude, and Meta's Muse covers how they differ for a service business.
Prompts that work with the Jobber connector
These stick to what the connector can actually do: read records, and create requests, clients, properties, and quotes. Anything it drafts for a customer, you send yourself. The connector doesn't send texts or emails.
- Quote follow-up. "Which quotes from the last 14 days are still waiting on the client? For each one, draft a short, friendly follow-up text I can send from my phone."
- Morning brief. "Give me a morning briefing: today's jobs, new requests since yesterday, and the five largest quotes still waiting on a response." Jobber suggests a version of this one itself.
- Unpaid invoices. "List invoices that are more than 30 days past due, largest first, with the client's phone number. Draft a polite reminder for each."
- Work-order email to request. "Here's an email from a property manager asking for move-out cleans at three units. Create a request in Jobber for each unit under her client record, and add any property that isn't in Jobber yet." Useful for house cleaning companies that work with landlords.
- Seasonal list. "Find clients who had a sprinkler blowout job last fall. List the ones with no request or job yet this season." Fall blowouts are the obvious one for landscaping in Utah.
- Tune-up outreach. "Which clients had a furnace tune-up job last year but nothing since? Group them by town and draft a short text offering a fall tune-up." The pre-winter push most HVAC shops run every year.
- Client cleanup. "Here's a spreadsheet of past customers. Fix the formatting, skip anyone already in Jobber, and add the rest as clients. Don't guess at missing phone numbers or emails. List those rows for me instead."
- Draft a quote. "Create a quote for the Garcia request from Tuesday: weekly mowing, $55 per visit, 10% discount for prepaying the season. Show me the details before you create it."
Then open anything it created in Jobber and check it before a customer sees it.
Jobber AI vs ChatGPT or Claude vs a managed agent
They aren't competitors. Most businesses end up using more than one.
| Jobber AI (built in) | ChatGPT or Claude + Jobber connector | Managed agent | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where it lives | Inside Jobber, on the web and in the app | In the ChatGPT or Claude app you already use | In the background, connected to Jobber and your phone, email, and books |
| Best at | Quick answers about your numbers, hands-free voice in the truck, answering calls (Receptionist) | Turning emails, spreadsheets, and notes into Jobber records; drafting follow-ups; questions that mix Jobber with other tools you've connected | Recurring work nobody should have to remember: quote follow-ups, payment reminders, a morning brief |
| Runs on its own | Receptionist and automations, within rules you set | No. Only when you ask | Yes, on triggers and schedules you approve. Customer messages wait for your OK |
| Jobs, schedule, invoices | Yes. It's Jobber | Read only | Can be built on Jobber's developer API, within limits you set |
| Cost | Included, plus add-ons like Receptionist | Your ChatGPT or Claude plan (free plans work with the connector) | Setup work plus the AI tools |
| Who sets it up | You, in minutes | You, in minutes | Someone comfortable with APIs |
The managed-agent column is what our guide to AI agents for service businesses covers: the difference between an assistant you ask and an agent that notices the new request at 9pm and has a draft waiting when you wake up.
The limits to know before you rely on it
- The connector can't touch the schedule or billing. No creating or editing jobs or invoices, no moving visits, no deleting or archiving. Rescheduling and invoicing stay in Jobber.
- Quotes it creates can't be edited by it afterward. If a number is wrong, fix it in Jobber. It also doesn't set unit costs or margins.
- Nothing happens until you ask. ChatGPT and Claude act only inside a conversation you start. The connector won't notice a new request, chase a quote, or remind anyone on its own.
- Build approval habits early. Ask for a preview before it creates anything, keep the riskier tools switched off until you trust it, and read every customer message before you send it. AI gets names, dates, and totals wrong sometimes, and it sounds confident when it does.
- The receptionist has a meter. Outside Plus, every conversation past 30 is $0.79. Set what happens at the limit in the Receptionist dashboard.
- Keep sensitive data out of chat. No card numbers, bank details, or passwords in any AI tool. Check your AI plan's data settings before you connect customer records.
Where to start
If you use Jobber, turn on the connector this week and try the quote follow-up prompt. It costs nothing on the free ChatGPT or Claude plans and shows you fast what AI can and can't do with your own data. When you want the follow-ups, reminders, and morning brief to happen without you opening a chat, that's what our AI Jumpstart sets up, in person on the Wasatch Front or by video anywhere in Utah. FAQ
Jobber AI questions.
Does Jobber have AI built in?
Yes. Jobber AI chat and voice are on all plans (labeled beta), plus Rewrite for client messages, suggested automations, and the Receptionist add-on. The custom report builder is on the Plus plan.
How much does the Jobber AI receptionist cost?
Jobber lists Receptionist at $29 a month as an add-on, which includes 30 conversations, then $0.79 for each extra conversation. It's included with unlimited usage on the Plus plan, and it needs a Jobber dedicated phone number.
Can I connect ChatGPT or Claude to Jobber?
Yes. Jobber has an official connector for both, on every Jobber plan, and it works with the free ChatGPT and Claude plans. It can look up clients, properties, requests, quotes, jobs, and invoices, and create requests, clients, properties, and quotes.
Can ChatGPT or Claude schedule jobs or send invoices in Jobber?
Not through the official connector. Jobber says it can't create or edit jobs or invoices, change items on your schedule, or delete or archive anything. That work stays in Jobber, or needs a custom integration built on Jobber's API.
Is Jobber AI the same as ChatGPT?
No. Jobber AI lives inside Jobber and works on your Jobber data. ChatGPT or Claude with the Jobber connector can also work with an email, a spreadsheet, or a photo of handwritten notes you hand them, which is where they're most useful.
Do I need a developer to use AI with Jobber?
Not for Jobber's built-in AI or the connector. Both take minutes to turn on. You need someone technical only for an agent that runs on its own, which is built on Jobber's developer API.
