About
AI does the work. A human checks it.
Almanac Office is a small firm in Salt Lake City run by Gavan Ganung. We set up AI agents for Utah service businesses that don't have a tech team, so the quotes, follow-ups, invoices, and back office run without eating the owner's evenings. We also build the websites and local marketing that keep the schedule full. AI does the routine work. One person directs it, reviews it, and answers for it.
In short
Almanac Office is a Salt Lake City firm, run by Gavan Ganung, that sets up AI agents for service businesses across Utah: front office (quotes, follow-ups, reschedules, calls) and back office (books, deadlines, payroll prep). It also builds websites and runs local marketing. AI does the work, and one human operator sets it up in person, directs it, and reviews it.
Why it works this way
Agency work is slow for boring reasons.
Most of what a marketing agency charges for is coordination: discovery meetings, account managers, handoffs between a designer, a writer, and a developer, and a queue for every change. The work itself is often a few hours. The waiting is weeks.
We cut the coordination out. AI drafts the copy, the pages, the review replies, and the monthly reports. One person decides what's right for your business, edits what the AI gets wrong, and ships it. Nothing sits in a queue waiting for someone to get to it.
That's also why the prices are flat. When the work doesn't depend on billable hours, there's no reason to bill by the hour.
Why "Almanac"
The book every trade used to keep.
For a few hundred years, the most useful book in a working household wasn't a novel. It was the almanac: what's coming this season, when to plant and when to harvest, when the frost lands, what not to forget. Farmers and tradesmen kept one by the door and checked it before they made plans.
That's the job we do for a business. Know what's coming: the busy season, the slow month, the tax deadline, the renewal, the client who hasn't booked since spring. Do the routine parts. Remind you of the rest before it's a problem.
Service work in Utah runs on seasons: furnaces in January, AC in July, blowouts in October. An almanac is built for that. We keep it, so you can do the work.
How we work
Rules we don't bend.
AI makes a lot of shortcuts easy. These are the ones we don't take, for any client.
- Every customer gets asked for a review. No filtering out the unhappy ones, no fake reviews, no paying for reviews.
- The receptionist says it's an assistant. Callers always know they're talking to AI, and it never makes up a price.
- Sensitive things wait for you. Replies to bad reviews and anything new going to your customers need your approval first.
- No made-up numbers. No fake stats on your site, no invented testimonials, no "trusted by 500 businesses" on ours.
- You own everything. Your domain, your site, your content, your listings, all in your name.
- No markup on ad spend. You pay Meta directly. Our fee is our fee.
- No ranking guarantees. Nobody controls Google or ChatGPT. We guarantee the work, and we show you all of it.
- Plain answers. If you ask a question, you get a written answer, not a sales call.
Why Utah
Local work is local.
A furnace company in Sandy and a window cleaner in St. George have almost nothing in common except the state. Good local marketing knows the difference: which towns your crews actually drive to, when your season starts, and what your customers ask before they call.
We're in Salt Lake City, so we can sit down with you, ride along for an afternoon, and see how jobs actually come in. That's how we find the leaks a remote agency never sees. More on where we work.
FAQ
About us.
Is Almanac Office an agency?
Not in the usual sense. There are no account managers or handoffs. AI systems do the drafting and the routine work, and one person directs and reviews all of it.
Where are you based?
Salt Lake City, Utah. We meet clients in person along the Wasatch Front and work remotely with businesses anywhere else in the state. See service area.
What happens if the AI gets something wrong?
That's why a human reviews the work every week and anything sensitive waits for your approval. If something slips through, we fix it and change the rule that let it through.
Do you work with businesses outside Utah?
Utah first, because local knowledge and in-person setup matter. If you're elsewhere, ask. The answer depends on your trade and how much in-person setup you need.
